Accountingfortaste started off as an Instagram in 2016 because my girlfriend (now wife) asked a simple question - why do you keep taking pictures of your food if you aren’t going to do anything with them?

Some 400 odd posts later I have eaten a ton of great food, slightly improved my photography (please don’t scroll down to my first 100 posts or so on Instagram…they are not great), and am now finally getting around to sharing some longer form thoughts on food (typing on laptop > than typing on your phone).

A little about myself - my name is Dave Beaty and the name of the page is inspired by my profession, I am an actual accountant. That means while I do ok I am definitely spending a disproportionate amount of my salary on food - hence the consideration of value when doing reviews.

I am originally from Rochester, NY which is not exactly the food capital of the world. Over the last four years, I have slowly upgraded my food situation (and winters) - first moving to the home of lobster rolls and chowder, Boston, which was followed by relocating to Germany for three years which gave me the chance to visit as many of the great restaurants of Europe as my wallet would allow. I now live in Stockholm, Sweden which is giving me an opportunity to explore more of the New Nordic style of cooking after the time spent in Germany exploring mostly more classical restaurants.
